I was coming home from a friends house late one evening and my car shut off. I was in a very rural area. I did not remember passing any civilization for a few miles so I was so glad to have my cellphone with me. It was a life saver. I called home to let my family know what was going on and they said they were worried because I was so late. I called my twenty four hour road assistance service to get help. They showed up within the hour. I was starting to get scared. It was so dark and there were no other cars that passed. My battery was the problem. If I did not have my cellphone with me, I would of walked in the dark. Another reason cellphones are good to have is being able to text. You can send a message to someone and they can reply back to you without using your minutes. You will need a plan that has texting. My husband loves his cellphone because when we are shopping he can go sit down and watch television on his. I text him when I can’t find him in the store so we know where to meet at. I would not go any where with out my phone. If you make long distance phone calls from your land line, it is so much cheaper to use your cellphone. You can also get your cellphone unlocked to use outside of the United States without being charged roaming fees. There is a small fee to have this done, but it is worth every cent. I also like cellphones to keep track of where my kids are. I have them call me every couple hours to make sure everything is alright. That lets me know what time they”ll be home.
